Gauri Sharma Tripathi
Gauri Sharma Tripathi is an artist in residence at The Southbank Centre, London. She has trained in the classical tradition of Kathak, which she learned from her guru and mother Padma Sharma.
Taking Kathak into a non-traditional and collaborative environment, Gauri is known for grounding her performance in the traditions of Kathak while giving it a contemporary viewpoint. Gauri alongside her mother, Padma Sharma and daughter, Tarini has initiated a three-generation Kathak performance, which sees an unusual blend of the old and new called “Taa, The Beginning”.
Gauri has collaborated with likes of Nitin Sawhney, Niraj Chag, Ashit Desai, Raghu Dixit, Sri, Taufiq Qureshi, Patricia Rosario, Reena Bharadwaj, Akram Khan, Zakir Hussain, Jagdish Mistry, Mavin Khoo, Rolf Heim, Shoumik Datta, Kalinath Mishra, Hiren Chate, Geetika Varde, Sveta Kilpady, Alaknanda Samarth, Mira Kaushik, Elton John and A.R Rahman.
For Gauri dance is a way of life and it reflects the artistic journey. The simplicity of life portrayed through emotions and sheer joy of being from the beginning to the end. Dance is her mantra.
Jeya Raveendran is a versatile dancer and choreographer, known predominantly for his South Indian Gaana style. He gained further recognition through choreographing for Universities and Charity Dance shows across London.
Since, he has been involved in several large dance productions, including ‘Dhamaka 2012’ at the O2 arena, with the popular dance troupe ‘Bollyflex.’ He has been dancing since a young age, trained in various styles and is currently the founder and choreographer of the ‘Got to Dance’ dance troupe stars, Gaana Rajas.
The passion for the beats of Gaana, which was self-taught, took him to the live semi-finals on SKY 1’s renowned dancing competition ‘Got to Dance’. Here, his ‘immense choreography and immense transitions’ were praised by the judges.
Jeya has been teaching and choreographing for over 10 years and not only loves to dance but is keen to inspire and encourage others to do so; teaching locally in London through his academy, the Jeya Raveendran Dance Academy (JRDA) and internationally he has conducted workshops across the world (including America, Australia, Canada, Holland, France, India, Malaysia and Switzerland).
Shruti is Shiamak Davar's Principle Dancer, and has been a part of the dance company for over fifteen years. She has taught in many cities across India and is currently teaching in the UK. She heads the Operations for SHIAMAK - United Kingdom.
She has trained Bollywood stars including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor, Rani Mukerji, Sonakshi Sinha, Ranveer Singh and Bipasha Basu. She has performed in Bollywood films choreographed by Shiamak including Taal, Kisna, Bunty Aur Babli, Aladin and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.
Shruti has performed at shows and award ceremonies across the globe, IIFA Awards, Unforgettable Tour with the Bachchan family, Filmfare awards, Zee Cine Awards, Diwali on Trafalgar Square , Lebara events, Asian curry & business awards, U.K. Welcomes Modi and many more. Dancing alongside the likes of Amitabh Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra, Aiswarya Rai Bachchan, Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor and many more! She has trained at the Debbie Allen's Dance Academy and is also certified in dance therapy.
