MEET THE judges
Naz Choudhury: recently made history as a Nobel Peace Prize Concert performer. He led his team of Bolly Flex dancers alongside a great mainstream cast including Queen Latifah, Steven Tyler, and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, who performed for the joint award winners Malala Yousafzai and Kailash Satyarthi. This event was expected to be broadcast across 120 countries and was predicted to be seen by over a billion people.
Choudhury’s most popular achievement is choreographing and performing in the first Bollywood act on the BBC's hugely popular dance show Strictly Come Dancing, which was seen live by over 10 million people and brought Bollywood to the show for the first time. Most recently also choreographed the Bollywood segment with Will Young and Karen from the Strictly pro's.
His most notable achievements came after his appearance on Dragons' Den in 2010, at the age of 26. He created super hit productions such as Bollywood Showstoppers and the Dhamaka Concerts.
In 2011 he took his dance company Bolly Flex to Sky 1's Got To Dance, receiving standing ovations and gold stars from all the critics. He then took Bolly Flex on tour across the UK and Europe. They were the first Bollywood dance company to play the Royal Opera House. In 2012 he directed and produced the Dhamaka Bollywood Concert with Flex FX Production, featuring Atif Aslam performing live with Bollywood dancers Bolly Flex.
2013 Naz created Bollywood Showstoppers with Bipasha Basu, Atif Aslam, Malaika Arora Khan, Shaan and Bolly Flex which took place at The O2 Arena London and the LG Arena (Birmingham) in April 2013. The event was attended by over 18,000 people. He also produced a charity show called Eid Masti 2013 at London’s Wembley Arena with Shafqat Amanat Ali alongside a range of stars from Pakistan on 20 October 2013. In 2014, Bollywood Showstoppers became the biggest British Bollywood production as Naz put together a huge lineup of superstars to sell out the O2 Arena. The lineup of 2014 included Shahid Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, Jacqueline Fernandez, Mika Singh, Ali Zafar, classical dance sensation Leena Patel and Bolly Flex. The show also featured Yo Yo Honey Singh. The show received rave reviews and all the stars performed exceptionally. This was without a doubt one of Naz Choudhury's most successful achievements since the beginning of his career.
Shivani Bhagwan & Chaya Kumar
Born and raised in Detroit, MI Shivani started out training in traditional Indian classical and folk styles at 9 years old and competed in FOGANA competitions every summer. After graduating high school she went on to become the captain and choreographer of the Michigan State Raas team.
Over 4 years, she competed in over 14 competitions, placed 1st 4 times, and went on to compete at Nationals twice. Her yearning to learn new styles led her to move to LA and train at a higher level with professional choreographers.
Chaya Kumar was given her introduction to Bharatanatyam at the age of 10. She continued, thereafter, training in the discipline for 10 years, under the direction of Alpana Jacob.
In college, Chaya was hired by a local entertainment and arts company in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, Blue Flame Productions. For them, she led their collegiate, competitive team, placing statewide three times. She moved to Los Angeles in the summer of 2015, and is conniving to pursue her passion of dance and films.
Shruti is Shiamak Davar's Principle Dancer, and has been a part of the dance company for over fifteen years. She has taught in many cities across India and is currently teaching in the UK. She heads the Operations for SHIAMAK - United Kingdom.
She has trained Bollywood stars including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor, Rani Mukerji, Sonakshi Sinha, Ranveer Singh and Bipasha Basu. She has performed in Bollywood films choreographed by Shiamak including Taal, Kisna, Bunty Aur Babli, Aladin and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.
Shruti has performed at shows and award ceremonies across the globe, IIFA Awards, Unforgettable Tour with the Bachchan family, Filmfare awards, Zee Cine Awards, Diwali on Trafalgar Square , Lebara events, Asian curry & business awards, U.K. Welcomes Modi and many more. Dancing alongside the likes of Amitabh Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra, Aiswarya Rai Bachchan, Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor and many more! She has trained at the Debbie Allen's Dance Academy and is also certified in dance therapy.
Dr Veena Babu
Dr Veena Babu works for the NHS alongside being director at I:V dance. She achieved her BSc in Medical Management from Imperial College London in 2013 her MBBS from King's College London in 2015. She has co-authored and published three books, including Amazon Best Seller- 'Dentistry Interview Questions' and is COO at Medinterview.Ltd.
Additionally, she commenced her dance training aged 5 in Bharatnatyam for 7 years under the gurus at the Vidya Bhavan and for four years in Indo- Jazz under Shiamak Davar in Mumbai, before moving to the UK.
She won the Asianet Europe Talent Contest for two consecutive years and went on to represent the UK in an international TV show, 'Vodafone Thakadhimi', in 2008. Veena has won over 7 regional Dance Competitions in the UK and has choreographed and performed in over 35 inter-university dance shows during her time as a student.
She was a choreographer & teacher at Honey's Dance, London for 4 years whereby she performed for MTV, BBC, and shared stages with artists such as Juggy D, Raghav, Kareena Kapoor and Akshay Kumar.
Her most recent achievements include her YT channel - I:V dance, her successful BollyHOOD workshops, recent collaborations with SONY music India and her campaign with Tough Mudder UK.
